Former South Korea football coach Guus Hiddink returned from North Korea on Saturday after reaching an agreement to open a futsal stadium in Pyongyang. Hiddink arrived in Seoul via Beijing after having what he called "fruitful" meetings with football officials in the North. He had left on Thursday to work on a deal to open his "Dream Field," a futsal stadium for visually impaired players.

Former South Korea football coach Guus Hiddink will visit North Korea this week to open a futsal stadium, officials said Wednesday.  According to Guus Hiddink Foundation, the Dutchman will travel to Pyongyang on Thursday for a three-day trip to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for his "Dream Field," a futsal stadium for visually impaired players. Futsal is a type of football played mainly indoors with five players a side and a smaller ball.

A field for the visually impaired opened on the campus of Duksung Women's University in Seoul on Thursday with the support of the Guus Hiddink Foundation. The university provided the land and the foundation donated W144 million (US$1=W1,029) for construction.

 A Unification Ministry official on Friday said Hiddink last month said he would like to see North Korea and asked about the procedure if he was to cross the land border. He has not yet made an official application.

Former coach of Korean national soccer team, Guus Hiddink, was recently on the island for the opening of the Hiddink Dream Field. The field is for the exclusive use of the disabled in playing a variant of soccer called "futsal." As Mike Laidman now reports, Hiddink is setting up these facilities in every city that hosted a World Cup game in 2002, when he was the coach of the Korean team.
